Martin on Main is a six-story, mixed-use residential development located at the intersection of Louisville’s NuLu and Butchertown neighborhoods—two of the city’s most dynamic and evolving districts. The project transforms a formerly underutilized site along East Main Street into a contemporary urban infill that bridges a commercial corridor and an adjacent historic residential fabric. Comprising 137 apartment units above structured parking and ground-floor retail, the building leverages a podium construction system—pairing a concrete base with wood-framed residential levels—to balance efficiency, scale, and contextual responsiveness.
Designed to support modern urban living, the development integrates a robust amenity program, including a third-floor pool deck, fitness center, co-working spaces, and landscaped outdoor areas that activate the podium level and foster community among residents. The project’s massing and material strategy respond to both the industrial character of Main Street and the finer grain of the surrounding neighborhood, addressing zoning and adjacency challenges through a thoughtful architectural approach. Completed in 2023, Martin on Main contributes to the continued growth and vitality of Louisville’s urban core while demonstrating the potential of well-executed, high-density infill housing
