A Closer Look at Nami’s Architectural Story

This project represents a defining moment in how I think about architecture — not just as construction or design, but as a conversation between people, place, and purpose. While working as Director of Design and Project Architect for the overall building design at Work Architecture in Louisville, KY, I had the opportunity to guide the project from early concept through completion, shaping both the vision of the space and the technical strategies that brought it to life.

What stood out most about this project was the strength of the relationships that formed around it. Working closely with the client and contractor teams reinforced my belief that the best projects are built on clarity, trust, and honest communication. When expectations are clearly established and responsibilities are well defined, design becomes more than problem solving — it becomes a shared process of discovery. Some of the most rewarding moments came from those conversations where design, cost, and construction realities aligned with the project’s broader goals.

The final photography by Benjamin Norton captured the architecture in a way that felt true to the experience of the space itself. The images reflect more than material and form; they capture atmosphere, light, and the quiet emotional qualities that make architecture feel lived in rather than simply built.

At its core, this project reflects why I continue to pursue design — the opportunity to create spaces that sit at the intersection of function, story, and human experience. Architecture, to me, is most successful when it quietly improves how people move through the world, connect with each other, and experience the places they inhabit.
